On March 5, 1935 a group of ladies from various Danish lodges around the Bay Area met at the iconic Whitcomb Hotel in San Francisco to form the Dansh American Women's Club.
37 ladies were present. The objective of club was to entertain visiting Danes as well as local ladies of Danish decent or with an interest in Danish affairs.
With over 80 years of tradition behind us, the club counts today more than 70 regular members, plus a large number of visiting guests and part-time members.
We meet 9 times thoughout the year at different restaurants on the peninsula for lunch. In addition we also have several special events, such as spouse dinners, family picnics and cultural tours.
2015 marked DAWC's 80th anniversary, which was celebrated in a festive manner with
